If you are trying to pick a Christmas gift for your sister or a girlfriend it’s possible that the answer is staring you in the face. Does she have a lush, luxurious head of long hair? You may envy them that mane, but for them it is probably a chore. A beautiful halo of hair usually means thick and long hair, and thick hair has cost.
For a woman with thick or long hair it can take up to an hour or more to dry her hair in the morning. That’s a big chunk of her morning routine spent bent over the sink, blowing a bunch of hot air that she could be spending at the breakfast table or enjoying some extra delicious sleep.
Women never have enough time to do their makeup – You can give her the one thing that every woman wants: more time. The difference between a cheap drug store hair dryer and a proper professional hair dryer can be like light and day. A professional hair dryer such as a Babyliss Pro Turbo Hair Dryer can both dry hair faster and be gentler than what she may have been using. She won’t even believe how fast she is finished blow drying her hair or how soft it is when she is done.
As if that weren’t enough a professional hair dryer is also quieter at the same level than a drug store hair dryer (all things being equal, anyway, low on a cheap hair dryer might still be quieter than high on a Babyliss).
You’ll want to go to Amazon to get this gift so plan ahead. It will take a few days to arrive, but using Amazon is still probably simpler than finding and getting access to a professional salon supply shop that might carry a pro hair dryer.
Amazon currently has a Babyliss Hair Dryer Gift Set for under $50 (almost 39% off) too, so you can give a great Christmas gift without breaking the bank. This very cute petal pink gift set include a 2000 Watt high power professional hair dryer. This hair dryer uses far-infrared as heat source in addition of the normal heating element, which make it more powerful and much lighter compared to most other hair dryers.
This gift set also comes with a free 1″ hair straightening iron. 1″ is the size that will be suitable for the majority of hair types and lengths. This straightener doesn’t pull your hair and does an excellent job straightening and works great as a curling iron as well. If you buy one of these hair flat iron on its own, it’s probably going to cost you almost the same amount of money as the price of this kit. It’s definitely a great buy judging by any standard.
If this sounds like a gift she might love you should go read our article about selecting the right size of hair iron to see how the bonus hair iron included in this kit will become a favorite part of her hair beauty kit.

This little flat iron is the best hair iron for traveling. First of all, it is unbelievably small. It is great to throw it in your purse or back pack and go. There is a heat resistant pouch comes with this iron, making it even easier – you don’t even have to wait for the iron to cool down before packing it into your bag.
When you are traveling, the last thing you want to really worry about is carrying a high end hair iron with you – first, they are expensive, you don’t want to lose them while traveling; second, they are often big and heavy, there is only so much stuff you can take with you, fitting in a flat iron meaning you have to either leaving some of your travel essentials behind or taking yet another big bag.
Don’t be fooled by the tiny size of this flat iron, it can get very hot. You may have to give it a few tries to learn how to use it properly without burning your fingers. However once you get the hang of using it, there is nothing that can beat it for the price. Because of the high temperature of this iron, it is best for thick and curly hair. If you have very thin hair, you may want to look for a different product with temperature control, or use this one but only heat it up for a very short time – this may require some practice.
Above all, this little T-Pro Slik Stik Mini Travel Flat Iron # 1945 may not be one of the best ones in the world, but for the price and size, and the fact it does a wonderful job, it is definitely worth buying.
Some tips for using this mini iron:
1. Use a heat protection spray;
2. Keep moving – don’t let the iron stay in one spot or it will burn your hair;
3. Don’t use it every day;
4. Buy a travel adaptor (like the one below) for using it anywhere in the world.

All in on travel power plug adaptor (for US, EU, UK, AU)
Hair flat irons are typically used to straighten hair. But if you want to maximize their use, you should also know how to use them for curling your hair. Of course, because the exposure time during curling is slightly more prolonged, not all kinds of hair flat irons can do the job. In fact, only those which use ceramic materials, such as a ceramic curling iron, can safely curl your hair.
Therefore, the first step is to select the best hair irons. Ideally, these would be the ones with solid ceramic plates, like some of the Babyliss flat irons, and temperature control, like the ones by Remington. The better the quality of the ceramic plates, the better the heat distribution, and the better the moisture will be locked in your hair. On the other hand, the temperature control is to ensure that your hair is exposed to the optimum temperature during the curling process.
The next step is to prepare your hair. For the best results, your hair must be dry, either naturally or with a blow dryer. You may, however, use the wet-to-dry hair irons out there if you lack the time, but their results are poorer compared to when you have dry hair.
Then, comb your hair gently to remove any tangles. Once you are done, clip the top ¾ of the hair to hold it in place. Then, take a 1” vertical or horizontal section of hair, and spray lightly with a thermal protective chemical to minimize their damage from heat. Do this while holding the 1 inch section of hair 90 degrees away from the head, for maximum exposure. Repeat until you have covered your entire hair.
Now you are ready to curl. Take your flat iron, and turn it to the appropriate temperature for your hair. Generally, that means 380-410 degrees for thick and coarse hair, 360-380 degrees for normal and medium hair, and below 360 degrees for thin and fine hair. Next, clamp the iron to your scalp (close to it if you want your hair fully curled, and a little farther for partial curls), working on 1 inch sections of hair at a time, and keeping it a 90 degree angle. Then, turn the iron 180 degrees. If you are working near the top of your head, turn the iron upwards, away from the head. If not, you may turn it in either direction, depending on how you want the final curl to look.
Then, slowly pull the iron through the entire length of your hair, maintaining the 180 degrees and some tension. Pull the hair a little slower to produce a tighter curl, or a little faster for looser curls. If the end result is a little unsatisfactory, wait for the hair to cool down before re-curling. Do not apply anything yet at this point. Then, repeat the process until the entire hair is curled. After that, you may apply some hair accessories or styling products to make those curls last longer.
After you have read through these instructions, visualize them, and prepare your materials. Make sure you have plenty of time, and you do not have any pressing engagements, just in case anything bad happens. But above all, have a lot of patience, especially if this is your first time. Practice makes perfect.
It seems that there are far too many flat irons available that we don’t really know which one to choose from. Advertisements on the internet, TV and other media are selling us a few particular brands as “the best flat irons” you can have. The sales pitch are not 100% deceptive, the products they are selling can be really good. However, when it comes down to you personally, the best flat irons that suits you are not necessarily those heavily advertised.
Flat irons are personal products like skin care products, only the ones that suit you can become your favorite. So what is the best hair flat iron that suits you? It highly depends on your lifestyle.
If you have a busy life style, and you must have your hair straightened every single morning. You really want to consider the flat irons that will allow you to straighten your hair from wet to dry. With a good wet to dry hair iron you can dry your hair when straightening without the requirement of a hair dryer. It surely save you lot of time. Wet to dry flat iron is also good for sleep over or traveling as you don’t need to take a blow dryer with you. You can use the room you save for more of your favorite beauty products or may be clothes.
If you like traveling, you should also consider buying a flat iron that can be used with multiple voltages and of course one that is not too heavy and bulky. Most of the flat irons only work in the country or region your buy them from. You can surely use an adaptor, but it is not recommended. An adaptor can be quite heavy and waste a lot of your space. Look out for flat irons that can be used in different countries and regions in this case.
If you are a layback person and don’t have a busy life style, there are a lot more options available when your choices are not limited to just the functions mentioned above. Or if you already have a great blow dryer, and just need a great flat iron to compliment it, you should look for flat irons that fit your budget and have many positive feedbacks.
